Taking on this project was one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. I experienced so much growth in such a short amount of time. In the fall of 2020, I was approached by a Angie Johnson, an english professor at Bethany, to create content for Bethany’s Barbaric Yawp project. Students of Bethany celebrate national poetry month by creating videos to accompany student-read poems by established authors.

My work was heavily inspired by artists of the avant garde film movement, and because of that, was very experimental in each of the processes I used to accomplish the work. I shot on Super 8 film, etched and manipulated film, created hand drawn animations, and used AI to assist me in animating.

After looking through the pieces, feel free to check out the presentation video below!

My work was also featured on the Bethany Lutheran College Media Department's blog; You also can check out my work here.
